Life as an MBA student

Having working 7 years in Fashion and Luxury sector in Hong Kong, I wanted to re-energize my past career goals and gain a broader worldview in business thinking and personal development. That was one the reason why I decided to quit my job and pursue an MBA. I was hesitating between doing it in the US or in Europe. Paris is one of the leading innovation hubs in Europe; and it’s very easy to travel around with its strategic location. I am also fascinated by the culture and historical value that the city offers, which is why I chose Paris! Doing my MBA in Paris is like an adventure to me – moving to a new continent; studying in a class with diversified culture; learning from each other; picking up a new language. Everything is new yet exciting!

We had an orientation week in late August with team-building activities and followed by a week of intensive French class. The school offered us different levels of French classes. If you do not speak French, you can prepare yourself in this beautiful country by some free language app before your departure. Trust me, you will experience lot more if you are managed to speak some words of French!

We have classes every day and lots of project to work on, but we do enjoy ourselves in the weekend! Our daily life at school starts at 8am and finished about 5:30pm. Our first semester includes subjects of theoretical knowledge, business, leadership competencies which help us for our electives in the second semester and also our future job preparation.

I am a strong believer of “Work Hard, Play Hard”. After class or in the weekend, we enjoy the city much! We explore Paris by doing picnic in the park, visiting château, having a coffee in a terrace, taking a walk or cycling around the city, exploring new restaurants, going to an exhibition, visiting a museum… From day one I arrived in Paris to now, I never felt a moment of boredom. You can always find things to do here!

I still remember one of the famous quote from Ernest Hemingway – “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast”. I am so happy to have make the decision coming to Paris and be a student again – a choice that will influence my life and path , and a story I am proud to tell my future kids one day 🙂
